Finland ETIAS - European visa waiver for Finland

Finland, like everywhere else in Europe, has not yet deployed the ETIAS pre-trip system.ETIAS is not technically a visa, like the current Schengen visa, but rather a visa waiver for Europe and will be part of a system that will require some holders of non-European passports to apply in advance for permission to travel Europe, including Finland.So far, citizens from around 60 countries have not needed to obtain a visa in advance before traveling to Europe.As long as they have a valid passport, they receive a 90-day stay.That's what will change.

The reason the EU strengthens its entry procedures is a response to an unprecedented number of terrorist attacks against some of the member countries, as well as the fact that the large number of refugees and other migrants has led to many European governments to think that the system place for the moment is too lax.It is hoped that the new ETIAS system will address some of the problems posed by current border arrangements and improve the level of security in Europe.
